Aqualogic owner Dominic Jude speaks to members of the Paradox Lake Association

Hey, we’re famous! Well, sort of. But we have caught the attention of several local organizations.

The Sun Community News recently reported about our work with invasives in this article. “The Paradox Lake Association is one of the best at keeping its waters milfoil free, and on Thursday (June 24) Aqualogic presented the organization with a $15,000 check to help keep the lake pristine.”

In order to keep up our great record in milfoil elimination, the Invasives committee is organizing a milfoil sweep of the Narrows before Aqualogic returns to dive next week. 

The Invasives team will start at the Peaked Hill Trail  area at the east side of the Narrows on Sunday, 7/18 at 8 a.m. (weather permitting).  

All are welcome!  Bring friends and family members (kayaks, SUPs, canoes all work well).  They are happy to teach you how to spot milfoil and mark it correctly.

For those at the very west end of our lake, Liz Reid (ereid@thelmreidgroup.com) is happy to pick you up with her motorboat and do a kayak tow.  Just let her know your interest.

Notice to all Snorkelers and Scuba Divers: If you can volunteer even an hour a month or possibly more, your help in removing milfoil from shallower areas will allow us to use Aqualogic’s work more effectively in the larger patches and deeper areas. Another Grant Awarded to PLA

The Adirondack Foundation recently awarded the PLA a “Community Fund for the Gore Mtn. Region 2021 grant” for our Invasive Water Species Signage in the amount of $500.00. Thank you Adirondack Foundation!

Paradox Lake is now a Loon-Friendly Certified Lake

The Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation in Saranac Lake runs the Loon-Friendly Lake Certification Program (new in summer 2020) which provides lake-owners with training about loon ecology and natural history, and guidelines for improving the lake where they live for loons and other wildlife, including such projects as conducting lake cleanups, improving shorelines, and recycling fishing line. Annual Picnic

The Picnic will be held on Sunday, August 8 from 12 noon to 3pm at the Pavilion at the State Campground at the west end of the upper lake. Food will be provided by the Lion’s Club Food Truck. One meal ticket good for a hot sandwich, side, and cold drink will be provided to all who come. (Additional food may be purchased.) We will set up a couple of lawn games to add to the fun. Come by car or boat (the pavilion is just up the hill from the beach).

Not a PLA sponsored event: Some of us are thinking of getting to the picnic via a group swim from LeGoys Beach to the campground. We’re thinking it will be accompanied by a small flotilla of watercraft for protection and relief. Rte 74 Boat Wash Station Needs Help!

One of the staff at the Boat Wash Station is going back to school in the first week of August. If you know of someone over 18 who might be interested in working a couple of days a week at the Boat Wash Station, it is much needed. The pay is $12.07 per hour.
