Dear Good People: This is a FYI so please put out to the public. The current high-water situation we have been managing and both gates have been opened since early last week. We actually have been lucky that some of the heaviest rains totals have been all around us, but our water shed is so large that it's become unmanageable. As all of you are aware, Mother Nature has thrown us a real curve ball, it is looking like Spring thaw time more than Summer drought. We are dumping maximum water out of the dam, but the level is still raising. Currently today at 2 PM the dam pond water level is 808.1, but Niel Chippendale is reporting that the water level is 813.2 at Schroon Village and still raising at the north end of the lake. As you can see it is a 5-foot difference between the dam and the north end of the lake. With the weather forecast calling for another 4 inches of rain we will be in flood condition more than likely. I would strongly recommend that people around the lake that have boats attached to fixed docks pull them out of the water quickly as possible. Docks will be under water and water levels will continue to raise If they have floating docks, ask them to be sure that have securing lines back to stable fixed shore anchors. We SLPD have no control of what water levels will be. Thank You Tom Luciano SLPD Adam Horowitz Neil Chippendale
