Dear Members and Friends,

Thank you everyone who has already paid their annual dues and made a contribution! So far, we have received over $12,000. We still have a long way to go to reach the goal of $34,500 that we have set for 2022. If we hit that goal, and together with the activities that our fund-raising committee has planned, we will be able to support the ambitious invasives abatement work scheduled for this year. Your generous support is crucial.

Contributing couldn’t be easier and takes almost no time. You don’t even need to find your checkbook and a stamp, so why not do it now?

You will get a donation confirmation receipt by email, which you can print for your records. If you would rather pay by check, please send it with a membership form that you can find here and mail your payment to PO Box 45, Severance, NY 12872.

2022 On-Line Raffle

We are starting to collect items for the 2022 On-line Raffle. If you have any new items (including gift cards) to donate to the Raffle, or know of someone who might be willing to donate items of any value to the Raffle, please contact Ryan Ragland at rnaragland@gmail.com. The Raffle will open sometime in late June/early July this year, keep a lookout on facebook or instagram for updates and a sneak peak at some raffle items. We've already got some exciting options this year but we've also got some ambitious fundraising goals to help balance our budget and keep our lake pristine. Annual Picnic and
”Paddle for a Purpose”!

The Annual Picnic will be held on August 21 at Camp Southwoods Beach from 12pm to 4pm. The beach and inflatables will be open for swimmers and there will be live music. Food will be catered by Paradox Thyme. We are also having a Fun Paddle Race, “Paddle for a Purpose” to raise money for our increased efforts to battle the milfoil. If you like to paddle (kayak, canoe, SUP, etc) please consider signing up. We need 25 paddlers to meet our goal.

State of the Lake Meeting: June 25

After you’ve renewed your membership, please mark your calendar! We’ll be meeting IN PERSON at the Schroon Lake Town Hall from 10-12.

Special Guest Brian Greene will join us. Brian works for The Nature Conservancy and is the Aquatic Plant Species Coordinator for the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program (APIPP). APIPP is a collaborative effort between APA, NYDEC and The Nature Conservancy. They monitor the spread of invasive plants throughout the Adirondacks, have done surveys of Paradox Lake since 2015 and have helped us extensively with our own volunteer monitoring efforts since 2019.

Getting ready for spring cleanup?

If you need to fertilize, remember to buy only a phosphorous-free fertilizer. Phosphorous gets into our lakes and rivers causing increased algae growth and reduced oxygen for our fish population.
