Sandra (Sandy) Courneen, a former special education teacher, inclusion specialist, adjunct instructor at St John Fisher College in Rochester, NY, and work shop writer and presenter for The College Board, has called Paradox her summer home all her life. She and her husband Terry live in the house that her parents, Michael and Catherine Carlozzi, rented and then owned for over 50 years. They in turn have owned the house for 25 years and have been here full time for the past 6 years. Some folks may remember them for creating and hosting pre-pandemic “Paradox Thyme” cooking classes and now their “Paradox Thyme” catering business serves our community and beyond, and to the PLA annual picnic this August.

Sandy and Terry are creek (inlet) dwellers and as such have endured the challenges of keeping the waterway open and free of beaver dams and debris that clog, change, and slow the flow of water to the lake. I’m hoping with the support of others we can work on solutions to improve this situation and keep the creek moving and our lake cleaner.

”Providing frequent communication and updates of discussions and decisions presented at PLA board meetings along with opening more meetings to members are also some of the things I’d like to work towards as secretary of the Paradox Lake Association. I am a believer in coming together as a community to solve the issues and challenges we face.“

Sandy serves as Recording Secretary. Current term ends 2025
